Teaching Experience:
Accounting Information Systems and Analytics
My teaching interests are rooted in data analytics and accounting information systems, with additional interests in financial and managerial accounting. At Deloitte, much of my work revolved around “wrangling” data, such as designing technology solutions, integrating systems, and developing analytics pipelines with Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, and Excel. This background gave me direct exposure to the flow of data through enterprise systems and business processes, as well as a deep appreciation for how analytics can uncover information, risks, reveal opportunities, and reshape the accounting profession.
At the University of Georgia, I found it rewarding to bring this perspective into the classroom by teaching accounting information systems and data analytics. Half of the class covered data analytics and visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and Alteryx, while the other half covered accounting information systems, transaction processing and documentation techniques, including flowcharting and Visio.
I received a teaching evaluation of 4.82 out of 5.0.
